I find myself thinking Avy is still 6 months. It’s hard for me to accept she is closer to her 1st birthday than her actual birth day. Much like Asher at this age, Avy loves to eat. She can spend an hour in her highchair trying to pick up pieces of food and feed herself. Only about half of it makes it into her mouth. Zoe, our lab, is more than happy to clean up everything that falls to the floor. With the nicer weather lately, we’ve been able to go on lots of walks and she will finally stay in the stroller without complaining. Yay for me and my back! She loves to swing and watch our colorful windsock blow in the breeze. Avy has learned a few more signs this month. I’m not sure if her most recent one is supposed to be eat, Mommy, or Gramma. She has been learning funny new ways to get peoples attention by smacking her lips and fake coughing. This month I have also noticed some signs of a “Daddy’s Girl” developing. Her face always lights up when JR enters the room and a couple of times she has started to cry for him when he kisses her goodnight. Uh oh!
Last Tuesday was so beautiful, we had to go to the zoo!
At 7 months Avery likes to cruise around holding on to furniture, eat whenever we eat, try to feed herself, and ride around on Asher’s shoulders (with help). She is very ticklish, silly, a messy eater, and a very curious explorer. We can make her laugh by jumping around like fools, making silly faces, playing peekaboo, bouncing her, dancing, and chasing Asher around the kitchen. She is also starting to do baby sign language for milk and more. This first picture is my favorite of her, I just love that sweet smile!

How can our little Avery already be half a year old? It seems impossible! She is such a delight and we had such an exciting holiday season with her. She has started to eat some solids, so far she loves sweet potatoes, bananas, and pears. She is not a big fan of green beans. She is sitting up on her own, although she might tumble over if big brother walks in the room and distracts her. This week while we were at the library Asher and a little girl put on a big puppet show for Avery and she loved it. She squealed with laughter and clapped her hands. Asher is definitely her BFF.

Here are a few cute, quirky things that I love about Asher.
1. He is convinced that he IS Sidney Crosby (Penguins Hockey Player).
2. He loves to play in the dark. In dark rooms, closets, he even runs around in the backyard at night.
3. It’s true what they say about little boys. You wouldn’t believe the things I find in his pockets. I have washed more leaves and rocks than I could’ve ever imagined. Most recently I washed and dryed a red crayon. In a load of whites. Awesome.
4. Most of the time he refuses to say goodbye to friends and family. He seems to believe if he doesn’t say goodbye he doesn’t have to leave.
5. He eats frozen waffles, frozen.
6. Asher thinks if he can convince me the clock say 2 o’clock, then it will be 2 o’clock and Gramma will come over. Or 4 o’clock and Daddy will come home.
7. He has an incredible memory. He can remind me what we need at the store. Where we ate months before. What happened in a book I can hardly remember reading.
8. Ask him where he wants to go out to eat. Souper Salad.
9. He loves to vacuum and wash dishes. Who doesn’t, right?
10. He is so sweet and sensitive. When we read Rock-A-Bye Baby he gets teary eyed. -059-791656.jpg)

Tuesday morning we awoke to a snowy surprise. I had no idea there was a chance of snow, it hasn’t even been cold enough to get out our winter coats yet. I decided to wake Asher up so he wouldn’t miss any of it. He was thoroughly confused since we NEVER wake him up. I told him to go look out the front window and he was so excited to see the white yard. When he ran to the back door to get his boots and hat he looked out the back window and said “Hey, it snowed everywhere!”. Asher spent the rest of the morning playing in the snow and throwing snowballs at the fence. He took one break for hot chocolate and then went back out until the last of the snow melted away. What a great winter surprise!
