This is our conversation on the way home from the zoo today…

Asher: “Can we go see Santa next Christmas?”

Me: Sure

Asher: “I want to ask him if he will show me his workshop. Do you think he gives tours?”

This month Avery has gotten her first tooth (two actually), taken a few steps on her own, learned to pull herself up onto the couch, and figured out how to climb/crawl up stairs. She says Dada, Mama, Asher (sounds like Adn), all done, and up. Avy loves taking walks in the stroller in the morning, splashing in the pool, and pretending to read books. We can’t wait to watch her eat birthday cake next month!

We had a great weekend at Taste Addison. Asher spent Saturday night at the treehouse with Gramma and Grampa, so we took Avy to the festival. We had great beers from BJ’s, Sherlock’s, and The Londoner.  JR had an awesome sampler from Texas de Brazil and I had some tasty Indian Korma and Samosas. We ended the night with Bailey’s Paciugo. Yum! On Sunday we picked up Asher and headed back for more. Asher ate an entire funnel cake on his own while JR and I sampled more goodies.  We got to hear the Dallas Wind Symphony Swing Band but we missed Train. Avy had a blast people watching and tried to jump in the fountains with Asher. I’m sure she will be right there with him next year!

Oh wow, this has been a fun month! In the last few weeks Avy has learned to say Mama, Dada, and Bubba. It’s just SO sweet! We used to only hear Mama if she was really upset, now we hear it all the time as she sings Mama, Mama, Mama. So sweet! Avery has also bec0me so mobile this month. She can get just about anywhere she wants, she can even scale walls to get to Asher’s room or the kitchen. This week she finally realized crawling gets her around a lot faster than cruising from object to object. She wants to play in any water she can touch, so the hot tub is a favorite right now. Avery still has no teeth, but I’m assuming one will show up any day now. While Asher plays in his new sandbox, Avery sits next to him picking up a handful of sand and dropping it into her lap over and over. She loves to read books and flip through the pages kissing any babies or cute animals she can find. At church this week she kept trying to kiss the 1 year old boy playing next to her. I wonder how many times a day I kiss her and Asher?

I LOVE going to the Arboretum every Spring. The tulips! The weather! The sun! Thank you Gramma for getting us in free with your membership every time we visit.

Saturday we got to take Asher on his first trip to the ER. I am actually really surprised that we made it 3 1/2 years. While eating a chocolate chip muffin at Market Street (dangerous, I know) he fell backwards in his chair and somehow split his chin open. Before I saw the blood all over his face I thought he was fine because he was crying for his muffin that had been flung across the room. Really? His chin is split open and all he is worried about is his food?! He was really anxious about going to the doctor, but it was not a big ordeal at all. He convinced the doctor to super glue it instead of giving him stitches. So, he should be back to normal in no time. And he may even have a scar to match Daddy’s chin scar from hockey. Cool!

Our sweet beautiful goofball.

Hope you had a beautiful day!

As we were playing in the playroom this morning, Avery was babbling and Asher said “Maybe Avy is going to speak Spanish.”

Last week on our walk Asher had two flowers to blow and make wishes on. First he wished for a real zambonie. Then he wished for a bowl full of ice cream.

On our way to Avy’s doctor appointment I heard Asher say “Avery, you have to go to the doctor. You may have to get a shot and it will hurt a little bit, but you’ll be alright.”

Last weekend we got to spend the weekend in Tyler. Asher had a blast fishing, riding horses, and helping take care of a brand new calf. I overheard him tell one of the friends that lived there “I want to be one of you guys when I grow up”. He really did love it and cried when we had to leave on Sunday.

JR came home with our new iRobot Roomba last week (LOVE it!). Asher was amazed by it and followed it around the house for an hour. At bedtime when we said our prayers Asher was most thankful for our new vacuum!
