The past 2 weeks have been the busiest 2 weeks of my life. I haven’t even had time to urinate, much less blog… So I am now back with a loud thud of crappy writing and inane babblings…

Here’s a brief rundown of things Sarah and I have done in the last 2 weeks (in no particular order):

  • Tried to sell a car
  • Sold a car
  • Researched and test drove cars to buy
  • Bought a car
  • Shopped for paint and decorations for Asher’s nursery
  • Shopped for new carpet for nursery
  • Painted nursery (walls and trim which took about 8 freaking coats)
  • Installed new doorknobs
  • Scheduled installation of new carpet for nursery
  • Mowed the lawn for the first time this year (about 2 weeks late – weeds up to my hips)
  • Weed-ate(?) edged, and put down fertilizer
  • Planted flowers at my parent’s house (I am a good son!)
  • Changed out the spark plugs in my truck
  • Cleaned out the garage
  • Moved guest room furniture down to my in-laws storage unit in Glen Rose, TX
  • Had lunch with family in Glen Rose, TX
  • Cleaned out the closet in the old guest room which is now the nursery
  • Filled the clean garage with boxes of crap from the old guest room closet
  • Baby-sat the Tapp’s dogs while they were out of town (4 labs = crazy mess)
  • Cleaned the house after the doggie disaster
  • Got the carpets professionally steam cleaned
  • Cooked Sunday brunch (eggs and banana-nut waffles) for family at our house
  • Attended first of 6 “Birthing” classes at Frisco Centennial Hospital
  • Had various nightmares after watching a video of live births
  • Went to see “The Crucible” at the Watertower Theater in Addison, TX – It was great
  • Went to the gym a couple of times to swim laps
  • Watched about 40 NHL hockey games (NHL playoffs BABY!)
  • Banged head against wall 456,982.3 times after watching the Stars lose 3 games in OT
  • Jumped for joy when Edmonton beat Detroit in game 6 to win the series 4-2
  • Played LOTS of late night hockey
  • Got no sleep after playing late night hockey
  • Did not blog!

Work has also been absolutely nut-bar-crazy-busy, adding to my desire to take a 3-week NyQuil induced nap. Hopefully, things are settling down a bit, but I have a feeling that this little 2 week barrage is nothing compared to what we’ll be dealing with when Asher comes along in exactly 3 months. I have lots of great tales to tell from the last 2 weeks, so I’ll do my best to write them down and get them posted.

    JR,
Kudos for getting all this done 3 months prior to due-date-countdown.
Really, you’ll find that things are surprisingly calm and relaxed when the new baby comes home. Nights can be hard if baby likes to cry, but you and Sarah will get into the whole new parent routine, and as long as you protect your home from baby-obsessed relatives and beer-toting friends, it can be a sweet, peaceful time. Especially because Asher will stare into your face for a few seconds and then just want Sarah’s boobs again. Do I know you well enough to have just typed the two words “Sarah’s boobs?” Well, I know Sarah really well, so there.
